Aaron Copland School of Music
July 18th, 2008
The Aaron Copland School of Music, named after the popular popular composer Aaron
Copland
, is a place of learning for burgeoning musicians and accomplished composers alike.
The school of music is found in Queens College at the City University of New York. It was founded in 1937 (alongside the College itself) with a curriculum established by accomplished musician Edwin Stringham. Many of the school’s early students stayed on to become the backbone of the faculty.
Not only is the Aaron Copland School of Music a place of learning it’s also a center for the arts in the area, and promotes cultural life in New York through public concerts and recitals.
Be prepared if you want to enroll, however: their entrance requirements are quite stringent.
